Someone recorded the sound of skating on thin ice and it's super creepy

With the winter Olympics in full swing, here's a video of what skating on a frozen lake sounds like. 

Fresh ice sounds really spooky, it turns out. Henrik Trygg recorded the sound of someone skating on 45mm of ice on Lissma Kvarnsjö, a lake just outside of Stockholm, Sweden. 

As the ice in the lake expands and contracts, it makes haunting pinging sounds. The untouched ice sounds a lot like an echoing spaceship. While the sound of skating on thin ice is mesmerizing, definitely don't try this on ice near you.  Read more...
